"It Takes A Village"

Mainstreet Grosse Pointe is seeking artists to participate in the "It Takes a Village" public art display, which will be installed around the Village fountain in the heart of Downtown Grosse Pointe. Artists are invited to interpret the meaning of community, and what it takes to create a welcoming, inclusive and cultural downtown district around the "It Takes a Village" theme.

Generations of shoppers have called The Village home for shopping for nearly a century. Consisting of unique locally owned businesses, boutiques, and restaurants, visitors come to shop, eat and casually stroll the Village loop.
Entry Details & Specifications

Selected artists will receive a creator's stipend and 15x15 framed wooden weather treated panel to create their artwork on and will have three weeks from the acceptance letter to complete their vision. All artwork must be completed and dropped off by no later than July 26th.
Artists must be 18 years or older, and live or work in Southeast Michigan. Artwork must be able to weather outdoor conditions in all seasons in a populated, walkable area. Materials which will deteriorate, damage structures, cause potential injury or any other incident will not be installed.
Completed artwork should be sealed appropriately. If you'd like us to seal your finished panel, please drop off at least 2 days before the deadline to ensure ideal curing time.
